Sagittarius A*, the monster that thought it was sleeping in the middle of the galaxy containing Earth, suddenly gave off a chilling signal.
Credited by IXPE spacecraft from NASA, these are the “echo of the dead”, is living proof that the “monster” of the Milky Way is not fully asleep as once thought.
Sagittarius A* is the black hole in the center galaxy containing Earth (Galaxy)it’s been a crazy time “eat and drink”. It has an estimated mass of 4.1 million suns and belongs to the largest group of supermassive black holes in the universe that astronomers call “monstrous black hole”.

However, there is more and more evidence that this monster still wakes up silently and eats the unfortunates near its “mouth”.
Fortunately, the IXPE spacecraft recorded the unusual brightening of giant, star-forming molecular clouds residing nearby. “heart” this monster, and realized that they glowed brighter than expected in the X-ray light.
Analysis shows that these X-rays are not emitted by the clouds themselves, but are reflected by light from a Sagittarius A* outburst.
Calculations made by scientist Frédéric Marin of the University of Strasbourg (France) and his colleagues show that this explosion only occurred around the 20th century, thanks to the complex reflection events that we can “look in the mirror” with relatively low latency.
According to the authors, this does not mean that the black hole has resurrected in a way that has regained its unbridled youth. In fact, even though it’s supposed to be “Sleep”, Sagittarius A* still has a strong gravitational pullenough to tear apart any flying object in too close range.
This time, the black hole meal lasted a year and a half, a considerable time for humans, but with the life cycle of celestial bodies, it is only the blink of an eye.
The exact object ripped apart by Sagittarius A* is still unknown, but the biggest guess is that stars were just born in these molecular clouds. It also means that Sagittarius A* doesn’t just wake up once because there are a lot of “snacks” ready.
The new discovery has just been published in a scientific journal Nature 21st of June.
