A new study shows a bold plan from the Moon to create an artificial shield to block sunlight, a plan that many scientists around the world are pursuing in hopes of slowing global warming.

In the new study, the authors point out that such a hue could require up to 10 billion kilograms of dusty material per year, or about 100 times the mass of everything humanity has launched into space until here.
Therefore, instead of having to spend expensive and difficult amounts of money to bring a large amount of material into the air, scientists point out that it is possible to use another launch pad into space: Return lunar dust to Earth.
According to astrophysicist Scott Kenyson of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, co-author of the study, they studied many different types of particles, including coal dust, porous glass, sea salt and lunar dust, for research purposes.
They also launched a test particle containing lunar dust from the north celestial pole into a close orbit. Lagrangian point 1 (L1), a theoretical point that has gravitational stability between the Sun and Earth, approximately 1.5 km from the planet’s surface.
This particle, launched at a speed of 2.8 km/s, spent a total of 5 days hovering in front of the Sun before being dispersed.
Although this option still requires a lot of energy, it is much more economical than launching anything from Earth, because the Moon’s gravity is only 1/6 that of Earth.
