Scientist Truong Lo of the Center for Space Technology and Applications informed about the plan to send monkeys to the Thien Cung space station to breed in a weightless environment.
The test is expected to take place in the largest Thien Cung module – a place primarily used for life sciences testing.

The Truong Science Department said that after research on small creatures such as fish and snails, research on mice and monkeys would be carried out. He believes that such tests contribute to a better understanding of the ability of certain organisms to adapt to many cosmic environments.
However, experts point out that there are still many difficulties associated with the study of complex life forms such as mice or primates. Soviet scientists once took mice into space to give birth during an 18-day flight, but none of them showed signs of pregnancy or giving birth after returning to Earth.
Professor Kehkooi Kee (Tsinghua University) said The challenge of life science experimentation in space increases exponentially with the size of the experimental organism. He also noted that astronauts must feed the experimental creatures and clean their fetuses.
Experts point to several previous studies showing that the weightless environment damages the testicles and other reproductive organs, leading to a significant decrease in sex hormones in laboratory animals.
But like scientist Truong, Professor Kee says this type of experiment is necessary as many countries have ambitions to settle permanently on the Moon or Mars.
