Located in a rather dark area, just 16 light years from our Earth, these two planets have a cool temperate climate that has not been observed in previous astronomical studies.
According to Sci-News, surveys based on radial velocity and planetary transits have discovered more than 5,000 exoplanets, some of which are Earth-like and very distant.
However, in a world just 16 light years away – around the dim red dwarf star Glass 1002 belonging to the Kinh Ngu constellation – is a fairly dark space so the above measures are less effective.

In the new investigation led by Dr. Alejandro Suárez Mascareño of the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics (IAC – Spain), two cutting-edge instruments are ESPRESSO and CARMENES spectrometersrespectively located in the Spanish Canary Islands and Calar Alto observatories, attempted to explore the dark zone around the red dwarf star.
They focused on the area close to the star, because red dwarfs are much cooler than the Sun, so the Goldilocks life zone is also closer to the parent star.
The results were extremely surprising: they found not one but two planets, placed as Gliese 1002b and Gliese 1002clying peacefully in this zone of life.
In addition, they are planets of the same type as Earth, but slightly different in size, respectively 1.08 and 1.36 times heavier than Earth.
By comparing other data, scientists showed that The climate of these planets is temperatewhich is completely habitable and where life can exist!
There is also a theory that argues against the habitability of these planets: red dwarf stars often have high radiation, which will cause difficulties for organisms. However, there is also ample evidence that life forms can resist or avoid radiation – for example living in underground water pockets or underground, like many of Earth’s extremophiles.
Astronomers hope that a number of devices will be built for the future, such as ANDES spectrometer or LIFE mission that European scientists are trying to launch.
