The Gaia spacecraft, in the process of mapping the Milky Way (the Milky Way, or the galaxy containing the Earth) discovered a “folded line” in the motion of a star named HIP-99770, which suggests that it can be impacted by a giant object. .
Later observations were made closer with the support of Subaru Telescope (located in Hawaii – USA) from the National Observatory of Japan helped scientists capture a particularly rare image of a giant planet orbiting this star.

Theo Scientific alert, which is rare because previously studies of exoplanets could often only be based on spectral data, proxy data on how the planet interacts with its parent star, and other astronomical measurements. Simply because they are too far away to see directly.
But planet HIP-99770b seems like a rare coincidence, partly because it’s so big.
“Doing research on both direct imaging and astronomical measurements allows us to fully understand an exoplanet: measure its atmosphere, its weight and track it at the same time.” – said astrophysicist Ƭhayne Currie, who simultaneously works at the operating group of the Ѕbaru telescope and at the University of Texas at San Antonio (USA).
HIP-99770Ƅ is not like Earth, but it is the beginning of the hope of directly observing a twin Earth in the future.
Spectral data shows that the planet is 17 astronomical units from its parent star, or 17 times the distance between Earth and the Sun.
It is also incredibly large and massive, with a mass 14 to 16 times that of Jupiter (equivalent to over 4,450 to over 5,000 times that of Earth), although its radius is only about 1.05 Jupiter.
Its parent star is much larger than the Sun, so the planet receives as much radiation as Jupiter, with traces of water and carbon monoxide in the atmosphere.
A first study has just been published in Science; while additional results from more detailed analysis steps will be released later this year and next year.
