The mysterious green lasers shooting through the cloudy sky were recorded by a scientist’s motion detection camera at the city museum in Hirotsuka, Japan.

strange laser was recorded on September 16, 2022 and remained a mystery until recently, when Mr. Daichi Fujii, curator of Hiratsuka City Museum and also owner of homemade motion detection cameras, was installed near Mount Fuji .

Mr. Fujii became skeptical when he saw not one but several strange lasers. Upon closer examination of the data, a small green dot also briefly appeared among the dense clouds. And he made a ‘chilling’ discovery, according to a scientific journal Daily SciTech said.

this pun is intended for ICESat-2, NASA’s “ice warrior”.

After receiving the information, the team operated the CESat-2 and considered it to be a laser coming from their device.

According to Tony Martino, ICESat-2 instrument scientist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, this is the first time the ICESat-2 team has seen images of laser beams from this satellite traveling from orbit to the earth.

“To see a laser, you have to be in the right place, at the right time and in the right conditions” – said Mr. Mortino.

Is called “ice warrior” because ICESat-2’s full name is “Earth Ice, Cloud and Elevation Satellite 2”.a device using laser lidar technology to detect the state of ice from Greenland to Antarctica, frozen seas determine the height of freshwater reservoirs, map shallow coastal areas…

Although this laser is very powerful, it is not harmful to humans and is difficult to observe. When he passed by Mount Fuji, the Japanese scientist was very lucky that the sky contained two thin layers of clouds to scatter the light in the way he observed it.
