Scientists have just discovered the deadliest planet ever observed in astronomical history: Kepler-1658b, 2,600 light years from Earth.
According to Scientific alert And Daily SciTechresearcher Shreyas Vissapragada of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and his colleagues discovered something strange in Kepler-1658b: It spins in a death spiral instead of a stable orbit.
This anomaly will certainly soon cause it to experience an extremely catastrophic outcome: diving directly into the parent star and then disappearing in a violent fire.

The catastrophic death of the planet is estimated to occur within the next 3 million years, a period that seems long to humans but is only a blink of an eye in the history of the planet .
What happens to it is the catastrophic tidal interaction that large planets orbiting too close to their parent star can encounter. In this one, the intense gravitational force from both sides will bring them both together, but the one that gets swallowed up will definitely be the planet, which is very small compared to its parent star.
Currently, Kepler-1658b orbits its parent star at a distance of only 1/8 the Sun-Mercury distance. Each revolution around its parent star lasts less than 3 days and decreases by about 131 milliseconds each year.
Kepler-1658b is a “hot Jupiter”, In other words, the gas giant planet is close to the parent star, so it is hot. However, it is likely that it will soon be stripped of all its atmosphere by the star, becoming a small piece of iron the size of Earth before dying.
Its aging parent star is also transforming into a red giant star – the last glorious moment in the life of stars running out of energy. This makes the planet and the star even closer, attracting each other more intensely than in the previous period, and may also explain how this old planet was removed from a stable orbit.
Even scarier, this planet can see our future. It is estimated that within the next 5 billion years, the Sun will reach the stage of a red giant star, growing large enough to engulf the three nearest planets, Mercury, Venus and Earth.
