In the seemingly deadly place of the solar system, scientists have just discovered four worlds capable of hiding warm and friendly shelters for extraterrestrial life.
According to SciTech Daily, NASA scientists have reanalyzed the interesting dataset that NASA’s Voyager pair of spacecraft collected before flying through interstellar space. Thanks to this, they discovered something very interesting in 4 out of 27 cases.
It is Ariel, Umbriel, Titania and Oberonfour moons the size of this distant planet.

the surrounding space, the seventh planet of, is certainly extremely cold. However, their icy crust, like some moons of Jupiter or Saturn, can provide excellent armor to maintain a warm subterranean ocean.
A model was built with the addition of data from other NASA spacecraft that have operated near the area or studied similar worlds: Galileo, Cassini, Dawn and New Horizons.
The results show that the 4 moons Ariel, Umbriel, Titania and Oberon not only have advantages in the ice crust, but the diameter of 1,160 km to 1,580 km will allow them to retain heat inside by radioactive decay in the core region, providing a potential source of heat in the rocky mantle that the spacecraft found evidence of.
Like the Earth, this process releases heat to warm the underground ocean, keeping the water inside in a warm state.
Not to mention that they are likely to contain substances with an antifreeze effect such as chloride, ammonia and salt, which also exist in the oceans of the Earth.
Of the four moons mentioned above, the models show Titania and Oberon as the two most interesting worlds, the oceans may be warm enough to support life.
NASA has also surveyed another moon, Miranda, but unfortunately, although it also has the elements to possess a warm subterranean ocean like the other 4 moons, it is not able to retain its ocean for long. Evidence shows it lost heat too quickly and may just be a scoop of ice.
This is not the first time that a world containing potential life has been discovered by scientists.
“When it comes to small bodies – dwarf planets and minor moons – planetary scientists have already found potential evidence of oceans in places like the dwarf planet Ceres, Pluto, Saturn’s moon Mimas…” – said Dr. Julie Lastollo-Rogez of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, lead author of the study.
There are special mechanisms that NASA researchers also admit they don’t fully understand, so it’s very valuable to identify more worlds similar to Uranus’ four moons.
The discoveries also guide future NASA missions, especially the search missions for extraterrestrial life that it pursues diligently.
The rescue was just published in a scientific journal Geophysical research: Planets.
