NASA’s Hubble Telescope has captured an image of an unstable galaxy located 110 million light years from Earth.
The American Space Agency (NASA) has just shared new images from the Hubble telescope, capturing a galaxy with an intact spiral arm, containing stars in formation.

Named NGC 5486, the galaxy is approximately 110 million light years from Earth, located in the constellation Ursa Major.
Théo Espace, Galaxies are classified as irregular galaxies. Due to its unstable shape and structure, it can be distorted by the gravitational pull of the neighboring galaxy.
The Hubble Telescope has captured a new view of NGC 5486 with its jumbled and unclear spiral arms surrounding the bright core. Several faint and distant galaxies are also visible in the image.
The thin disk of the galaxy is distinguished by pink bands of light, where new stars are forming. Around them is diffuse light coming from the core of the galaxy.
NGC 5486 is located nearby Pinwheel Galaxy with the official name of NGC5457about 21 million light years from Earth.
NGC 5457 is located in the constellation Ursa Major, is one of the closest galaxies to our planet. This galaxy is twice the size of the Milky Way and contains more than a trillion stars with transparent spiral arms.

The Pinwheel Galaxy was photographed by Hubble in 2006. At that time, it was the largest and most detailed image of a spiral galaxy recorded by a space telescope.
The latest photo of NGC 5486 belongs to a project to explore the debris left behind by a Type 2 supernova – the explosion that marks the end of a large star’s life.
According to NASA representatives, NGC 5486 witnessed a supernova in 2004. Therefore, astronomers used the Advanced Camera for Investigations (ACS) on Hubble to monitor the aftermath of the explosion, making it possible to better understand the nature of these events.
