So far, scientists have determined that the universe consists of three distinct parts: Matter can be observed and measured. The other two theoretical components are called dark matter and dark energy.
Although not fully understood, scientists can still infer the composition of the universe, including:
- : 68%
- : 27%
- Free Hydrogen and Helium: 4%
- Stars and planets: 0.3%
- Ɲheavy element: 0.03%
Scientists are still working to understand the properties that make up dark energy and dark matter.
NASA is currently planning to launch the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope in 2027, an infrared telescope that will hopefully help us measure the effects of dark energy and dark matter for the first time.
There are theories that there could be a “super universe” larger than our universe or we can be part of a universe separate from the others. Currently, mankind cannot unlock these mysteries of the universe, we need more time and long-term efforts.
