Looks like Earth!

The study was carried out by the University of the Côte d’Azur and the French Institute of Celestial Mechanics and Astronomical Calculations (ƖMCCE), published in the scientific journal Nature.

Scientists confirm The moon has a liquid outer core and a solid iron inner core, just like the Earth’s core.

Find the "heart" of the Moon for the first time: it looks exactly like the Earth! picture 0

Structure of the Earth’s Moon – (Graphic: Geoazur/Nicolas Sarter).

Theo living sciences, Astronomers have long been confused about Structure of the Moon. A heated debate in the early 20th century centered on whether this was a primordial rocky world like Mars’ moons Phosos or Deimos.

However, since the first landers landed on this celestial body, such as NASA’s Apollo missions, hints have been found that the Moon could be structurally very similar to Earth.

It is much more clearly stratified material than the moons of other planets, not uniform rock throughout, as seismographs have revealed. Even the fact that the Moon still has mild earthquakes is a clue.

The new study, using a detailed computer model built on geological data from NASA’s Apollo program and GREIL mission, is of a pair of probes that tracked the moon’s gravitational field for more than a year.

The model showed that the inner core is about 500 km in diameter, which is equivalent to 15% of the diameter of the entire celestial body.

Work also found for the first time evidence of material disruption of the Moon’s mantlea process by which hotter molten material rises through the mantle, which may explain the presence of iron on the surface of this celestial body.

A better understanding of what the Moon hides inside could help scientists discover many things, including its once magnetic field. This object has been shown to have a magnetic field, even water and life, but an unfortunate evolutionary process turned it into the barren rock it is today.

The research also provides an excellent springboard for a series of future lunar exploration missions, helping scientists prepare in the right direction, fully and reap the best results.
