Spectacular images from the James Webb Super Telescope, developed and operated by NASA, have revealed a “swarm of monsters” lurking in the early universe, “superstars” never seen in any data before.
“Herd of Monsters” This was born only a few hundred million years after the formation of the universe, and the image that scientists observe is also an image. “through the air” of this primitive world, because it takes the same time for light to travel 13.4 billion light-years to reach a telescope orbiting the Earth.

They are the “Superstar” beyond imagination, bigger and hotter than any blue star (the hottest star) known to mankind.
If we compare it with the Sun – a yellow star of class G, that is, the type with temperature “below average” a little – these monsters are 5,000 to 10,000 times more massive. They are also as hot as 75 million degrees Celsius at the core, which is huge compared to the 15 million degrees Celsius at the Sun’s core.
Yet despite its size and terrifying temperature, These monsters are very elusive as they are very short lived stars.
A team of scientists led by astronomy professor Corinne Charbonnel from the University of Geneva (Switzerland) found signs of this monster swarm in data from James Webb.
These monsters are gathering globular cluster, each containing up to 1 million stars, born together and as early as 440 million years after the birth of the universe. A globular cluster is a structure that has been observed many times before, but these ancient globular clusters and the type of supergiant they possess have never been recorded.
To locate these monsters, the team used infrared data from James Webb, immersing in the light of one of the The most distant galaxy is Gn-Z11, located about 13.3 billion light-years away.
The resulting image is from when this galaxy was only a few tens of millions of years old, so it’s an interesting place to hunt for young star clusters. By collecting light from the ancient galaxy, breaking it up, filtering it, scientists have captured the special chemical signature of the aforementioned monster swarm.
ƝThe research has just been published in a scientific journal Astronomy and astrophysics.
