A robotic helicopter named Dragonfly will become an alien-hunting machine on Saturn’s moon Titan, which NASA once compared to a second Earth.

According to Daily SciTech, Dragonfly They are preparing to leave Earth in 2027 and are expected to reach the alien version of Earth, Titan, by 2030.

Dragonfly is shaped like a helicopter, it is an amphibious spaceship and it is also a type of robot that can perform certain functions autonomously. NASA clearly states: It will be a ship to hunt for extraterrestrial life, or at least find the precursors of life forming on this mysterious moon.

This will help scientists understand exactly what happened on ancient Earth that made life possible – a fascinating chain reaction of what is called prebiotic chemistry.

Its complex, carbon-rich chemistry, underground water, and fascinating surface features, including a landscape with Earth-like features, make Titan a “promised land” from NASA a long time ago, alongside other moons like Jupiter’s Europa or Saturn’s Enceladus.

This NASA exploration robot will carry one Dragonfly Mass Spectrometer (DraMS)designed to serve as a bridge for Earth scientists, helping them study Titan’s surface remotely.

“We wanted to know if the type of chemistry that might have been important for early prebiotic systems on Earth was occurring on Titan.” – said Dr. Melissa Trainer from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

DraMS will scan Titan’s surfaces to find what it needs to discover. To transport DraMS to many destinations, this ship will launch the propeller and fly short distances of a few kilometers, which is very suitable for Titan’s low weight and dense atmosphere.

The collected samples will be exposed to a laser beam and measure what has evaporated inside. “laboratory” mini of DraMS, then sent back to Earth.

Dragonfly and the undisclosed instruments that Dragonfly will carry are designed and built under the direction of the Ph. John Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, USA, which manages NASA’s Dragonfly mission.

The French space agency (CNES) and the Japanese space agency (JAXA) will also accompany NASA and other American partners in this mission.
