Stars orbiting a giant black hole in the Milky Way have always been a complicated problem in the world of astronomical research.
pig new scientist, stars near the center of the Milky Way have a very strange “leakage zone” and make scientists unable to explain it. In it, these objects are at all distances from the giant black hole at the center of the galaxy, or scientifically known as Sagittarius A*there will be a randomly shaped distribution in their orbits.

However, some groups of stars mysteriously disappear in this distribution.
The existence of groups of about 200 stars residing near Sagittarius A* surprised scientists because the area is very harsh.
Andreas Burkert of the University of Munich Observatory (Germany) and his colleagues examined the orbits of 50 of these stars. They found There is a strong correlation between the distance of each star from the galactic center and the shape of its orbit..
As a general rule, the closer a star is to the center of the galaxy, the more stretched or eccentric its orbit. However, in the region around Sagittarius A*, the researchers found no stars with circular orbits, a phenomenon known as avoidance zone.
“The avoidance zone has very clear boundaries. It is as if there is something that forbids the stars to enter this region, otherwise the stars that enter there will be destroyed.”said Mr. Andreas Burkert.
Meanwhile, Florian Peissker from the University of Cologne (Germany) believes that explaining the above phenomenon will be very important for people’s perception of black holes and how they work.
“It seems that the presence of a supermassive black hole creates a mechanism and causes objects to move in a non-random orbit.added Ƒlorian Peissker.
Theo new scientist, there are two main theories regarding the orbital shapes of stars and their approach to Sagittarius A*. First, another smaller black hole could appear in the same region and have altered the orbits of stars. The other hypothesis is that these objects were once part of the pairs launched into deep space and that the other black hole is still orbiting the center of the galaxy.
However, the two ideas above cannot explain the avoidance zone and require even more time to study.
“We still don’t really know what it is. I think that’s the most interesting part.Mr. Ɓurkert said.
