The plan is part of Saudi Arabia’s human spaceflight program, which also plans to train one male astronaut and one additional female astronaut to meet the requirements of all space missions.

According to updated information on Wikipedia, female astronaut Barnawi holds a bachelor’s degree in biomedicine from the University of Otago (New Zealand) and a master’s degree in biomedicine from Alfaisal University (Saudi Arabia).

Additionally, she also has 9 years of experience in cancer stem cell research.

At the time she was selected as the first Saudi female astronaut in space, Barnawi was a laboratory technician at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in the capital Riyadh.
