NASA and the 5 Greatest Scientific Achievements in History

1. Chandra X-ray Telescope

The Chandra telescope was launched into space in the second half of 1999 and is an instrument that plays an important role in NASA’s space mission. During its fifteen years of operation, Chandra has provided mankind with a unique panoramic view of the universe. This is considered one of the greatest scientific achievements in history

from NASA.

The Chandra X-ray Telescope is considered one of the greatest scientific achievements in NASA history.

The Chandra X-ray telescope has an elliptical orbit around the Earth, gives astronomers a better view of high-energy-density regions of the universe or places that could be remnants of a supernova explosion. Chandra’s images have helped scientists better understand cosmic pulsars (pulsars, the form of electromagnetic radiation involved in star formation and death) and nebulae in the universe.

Chandra is considered one of the four “great observatory ” by NASAthe remaining 3 names are Spitzer Space Telescope, Hubble Space Telescope, and Compton Gamma Ray Observatory.

2. Freedom 7 and the mission to send the first American into space

On May 5, 1961, Alan Shepard left Earth and officially became the first American astronaut to fly in space.. It should also be noted that Shepard was not the first person to go into space – it was the great achievement of the great Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

The historic mission to send the first Americans into space was successfully carried out in 1961

In fact, the time Alan Shepard flew into space was only 23 days after Gargarin’s flight. And from that moment, Shepard wrote his name in the big NASA column with First manned flight into space and set the standard for future astronauts to follow in his footsteps. Shepard departed Earth at 9:34 a.m. aboard Freedom 7, its historic flight lasting a total of 15 minutes and 28 seconds.

3. International Space Station ISS

The International Space Station ISS began construction in 1998 and has been used by researchers since 2000. The first crew set foot on the station in 2000 and since then they have lived here, serving space research and exploration.

NASA and its partners around the world officially completed the complete construction of the International Space Station in 2011. Astronomers had to work to understand how to live in zero gravity, and beyond to complete the future mission of sending humans to the Earth. Moon and Mars.

In reference to the impressive scientific achievements of NASA, it is impossible not to mention the International Space Station ISS

The image of the International Space Station is a concrete demonstration of the statement that space missions can bring amazing results. Although the International Space Station (ISS) is not mankind’s first space station, it is certainly most impressive space station.

4.Apollo 13

On April 11, 1970, the Apollo 13 spacecraft was launched, and after 55 hours and 55 minutes, a terrifying explosion occurred.destroying almost the entire system as well as the equipment necessary to sustain life on the ship.

The horrific incident began when one of the train’s engines stopped working within two minutes of takeoff. One of the oxygen tanks exploded and the force of the explosion caused the second oxygen tank to burst. Shortly after, two of the spacecraft’s three fuel tanks shut down. This means that all the oxygen stored on Apollo 13 has escaped into space and all basic support for life like electricity, water, light, temperature and oxygen has ceased.

This disaster marked one of the greatest collective rescues in human history. People thought about the tragic possibilities that could happen but in the end a miracle happened, the The crew members – James Lovell, Fred Hayes and John Swirget all survived which is considered a miracle.

The Apollo disaster marked one of the greatest mass rescues in human history

The bravery and courage of the men on board and of all who participated in the rescue mission is a prime example of the extraordinary intelligence and courage of mankind. To stay alive, the astronauts had almost no food, water and no sleep as the temperature on board plummeted to near zero. In less than six days, the crew members lost 31.5 pounds from dehydration.

While they waited patiently, NASA technicians at the control center worked tirelessly, finally finishing thousands of algorithms after 6 days and choosing solutions. They found a way to get the astronauts back.

5.Apollo 11

Apollo 1 was supposed to be the first manned space shuttle to land on the Moon, but unfortunately this spacecraft did not accomplish this noble mission. The test was a disaster, killing all three astronauts due to a fire in the cabin.

Apollo 11 put Neil Armstrong on the Moon is a great NASA scientific achievement

Over the next two years, NASA conducted a total of 9 tests with a series of space shuttle projects. Final, Apollo 11 became the first successful mission to send humans to the Moon. When astronaut Neil Armstrong walked on the surface of the Moon and said the legendary phrase “One small step for man, one giant leap for humanity”the whole world is amazed, even some people are skeptical and don’t believe in miracles.

Shortly after, Buzz Aldrin and two others became the next to set foot on the Moon. Since the success of the Apollo 11 mission, new Only ten astronauts have set foot on Earth’s only natural satellite.
