Progress MS-21 cargo spacecraftthe second Russian ship damaged in recent months, was able to return safely to Earth to commit suicide.
Partner TASS Quoting the Russian Space Agency (Roscosmos) statement of February 19: “The Progress MS-21 left orbit today, entered the atmosphere and fell. Unburned portions of its structure fell into an isolated area of the Pacific Ocean at 6:57 a.m. Pacific time Moscow”.

Previously, the Progress MS-21 spacecraft recorded a drop in pressure on February 11, determined to be due to a coolant leak. The ship was isolated from the International Space Station (ISS) and separated from the station on February 18.
Initially, experts planned to separate this spacecraft from the ISS on February 17, but the plan was postponed so that experts could switch it to remote operating mode and take photos of damaged areas of the craft. Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov said on February 13 that an emergency committee had been created to investigate the cause.
Progress MS-21 is a Roscosmos cargo ship, responsible for supplying the ISS. It’s the last few months.
The previous ship that crashed – in mid-December 2022 – was the Soyuz MS-22, which carried 3 astronauts from Roscosmos and NASA to the ISS, also had a similar problem, which both agencies concluded that it was due to the collision of a small meteorite. Russia will welcome these astronauts to Earth with another Soyuz spacecraft when they complete their mission to the ISS.
Equipment on NASA’s $1.5 billion spacecraft suddenly shuts down
The US space agency said the incident occurred with Parker solar probe from NASA since last weekend and they are fixing it by uploading a software that controls the ship’s EPI-Hi instrument. The download process began on February 17 and the device will be turned back on shortly after completion.
NASA did not disclose the precise time Parker would resume normal operations, saying only that the EPI-Hi device would have to be shut down for a few weeks. They also assure that before beginning the 15th approach to the Sun – scheduled for March 12 – the spacecraft will operate normally.
NASA also assessed that in addition to the above incident, the Parker ship is still intact. “works well overall.”
