NASA’s announcement indicates that during the period of March 25-27, Lucy used THE LORRI – the ship’s highest resolution photographic equipment – to capture the First image of Jupiter’s 4 Trojan asteroids. These are the first images of a previously planned plan to determine how Trojan asteroids reflect light at angles higher than the position that can be observed from Earth.

These Trojan asteroids have the potential to provide great scientific value and are compared to “diamonds in the sky”. Lucy will pass by these asteroids in 2027 and 2028, when the spacecraft passes through a cluster of small asteroids that lead Jupiter on its orbit around the Sun.

Deployed on October 16, 2021, Lucy is NASA’s first spacecraft tasked with exploring the trojan asteroid – a population of primordial asteroids orbiting parallel to Jupiter. It will be The first solar-powered spacecraft has traveled far from the Sun and will observe more asteroids than any previous spacecraft. Luke will have to return 3 times close to Earth to receive gravitational support, becoming the first spacecraft to travel to the outer solar system and then back to Earth.

Lasting 12 years, this $981 million space exploration mission should allow scientists to observe the Arojan asteroids up close for the first time. During this mission, Lucу should travel about 4 billion kilometers.
