The European Space Agency (ESA) announced on the evening of February 12 that a 1 m meteorite would enter the Earth’s atmosphere and fell in the area near the French city of Rouen. The ESA named the asteroid that collided with Earth on February 13 Sar2667emphasizing that scientists predicted the destination of this object in advance “a step forward in the ability to track and detect meteorites on a global scale.”

“The above four observations are enough to map the flight path of the meteorite,” the scientists said. These people added that just minutes after the release of Project Catalina data, the ESA monitoring system predicted that asteroid 2022 WJ1 would fall into North America in approximately 3 to 4 hours.
“At about the scheduled time, a meteorite about one meter in diameter entered the Earth’s atmosphere, creating a large fireball in the predetermined area.”said ESA scientists.
