Images and videos of a mysterious streak of light moving across the sky over Russia’s Magadan region have sparked heated debate in the online community: is it a UFO or a falling meteorite on earth ?
The videos show a streak of light stretching across the sky over Russia’s Magadan region, filmed by locals on December 28 and published by a local telegram channel.
As the image spread quickly on social media, there were questions about whether it could be an unidentified flying object (UFO) or a comet passing by our planet.
In the comments below the video, there are many theories about what the strange object appearing in the sky could be. Some wondered if it was a rocket launched from the Sea of Okhotsk, others claimed that it was a fragment of a satellite that fell into the atmosphere on fire. But the most popular option seems to be a large asteroid hurtling toward Earth.

Speculation about the strange light arose against the backdrop of meteorite fragments previously being found in the Kolyma region of Russia’s Far East.
One of the most famous meteorites is Seymchan pallasite meteorite. A very rare meteorite – a giant block of metal weighing almost 300 kg – was discovered in 1967 in the Khekandya River region.
The meteorite containing olivine crystals turned out to be a fragment of one of the ancient planets, which, according to various estimates, entered the earth’s atmosphere at the dawn of the formation of the solar system and broke up into a meteor shower. There is therefore a hypothesis according to which Meteorite ρallasite Seymchan, contains extraterrestrial gems, may be the same age as the Sun, and is the oldest cosmic body to have fallen on our planet.
