A new analysis of a blue fireball from the Oort Cloud that landed in Canada in February 2021 could change a series of understandings about the formation of Earth and the entire solar system.
According to Sci-News, it was a meteorite weighing 2 kgentered the Earth’s atmosphere approximately 100 km north of Edmonton, Alberta – Canada at 13:23:17 UTC on February 22, 2021.
It was identified as an object coming from the Oort Cloud, a belt believed to be full of icy objects and cold comets at the edges of the solar system.

What came from it should have been ice, according to all previous scientific evidence, research and theories about the Oort Cloud. But no, A meteorite falls on the Canadian Rockies.
Scientists did not directly capture the meteorite that landed in 2021, but clear images and tracking data helped understand its nature.
The research team led by Dr Denis Vida, a meteorological physicist from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Western Ontario (Canada), said the meteorite had penetrated deeper into the Earth’s atmosphere than other other icy meteorites.
The way it disintegrated in the atmosphere, while still not far from the ground, confirmed that it was indeed rock. All previous rocky fireballs have come much closer to Earth,
“This discovery supports a completely different model for the formation of the Solar System – supporting a previously rare idea that significant amounts of rocky material also coexist with icy objects in the Oort Cloud.” – explained Dr. Vida.
He added: “This result cannot be explained by the currently favored models of solar system formation. This is a complete game changer.”
There has long been evidence supporting the theory that everything that makes up the solar system – including our own Earth, particularly the seeds of oceans and life – has an origin deep in interstellar space, accumulating in the outermost belt of the solar system and then follows space objects deep into their interiors, blending into the materials of young planets.
The presence of a rocky object in the Oort Cloud shows that it is very possible that part of ourselves is made up of a world that seems filled with snowball-like comets and ice meteorites giants. Perhaps there are perfect structural blocks there, ready to be connected and directly participating in the formation of the planets.
The research has just been published in the journal Natural astronomy.
