  • Venus is classified as a terrestrial planet and is sometimes considered a “sister planet” of Earth due to its size, gravitational acceleration and orbital parameters similar to those of Earth.
  • Venus is surrounded by a thick layer of highly reflective clouds containing sulfuric acid (H2SO4), making observation from the surface impossible. The air density in Venus’ atmosphere is the highest among the four terrestrial planets, with the main component being CO2. The atmospheric pressure on the planet’s surface is 92 times that of Earth. With an average surface temperature of 462°C, Venus is the hottest planet in the solar system. Imagine when we find ourselves in such a harsh environment with high temperatures, without water, without oxygen and under the direct impact of cosmic and solar rays. Surely we cannot exist for even a hundredth of a second.

Illustration of Earth and Venus – two “twin planets” of the solar system.

Venus completes one orbital period approximately every 224.65 Earth days. While one day on Venus is equivalent to 243 days on Earth (this shows the duration of one rotation of Venus).
The Vietnamese previously called it the evening star and the morning star because this celestial body appeared in the sky both day and night. Venus is the third brightest celestial body in our sky after the Sun and the Moon.
